A Review on Qian Dian's Studies in Epigraphy

  • Qian Dian was an accomplished epigraphy specialist of Qing Dynasty between Qianlong and Jiaqing period, and also a pioneer in the transformation of ethos in the study of epigraphy. His writings were abundant, and A Textual Research on the Inscription of Antiquity in 16 Changle Halls is the first book which had recorded private collection and is a vanguard in collection and research fields of bronze inscription. The inscription had changed the writing style of Song dynasty, and all the collected inscriptions and rubbings were based on the original rubbings which had promoted a further development of research on bronze inscription.
