The Rhetorical Nature of A Translator in Translation

  • Based on the contemporary rhetorics, rhetoric is defined as a communicative activity which uses linguistic symbolism as a means to affect its audience's ideology and behavior. Translation is a rhetorical activity which affects its target readers and gains their acceptance. As a retour, a translator has his own awareness and inclination of rhetoric, and can actively realize the rhetorical motivation in translation. As the subject of translation, the translator rhetorically interprets source text. Moreover, the translator builds agreement with the audience by reconstructing figure of speech.
