Research on Vocabulary Acquisition Strategies Based on Different Kinds of Reading

  • Vocabulary is the basis of English study. Compared with the direct way of study, the incidental way is more beneficial for students to learn new words, and reading is a widely accepted incidental way for vocabulary study. Intensive reading can help to acquire word formation and meaning accurately; extensive reading can help understand word meaning in cultural context; while reading aloud can help match pronunciation with word formation. According to the advantages and disadvantages of different reading modes, we help students choose suitable reading strategies to acquire words more efficiently, so as to improve their ability of English study.
