Abstract
The use and understanding of negative sentences in courtroom English is of great significance to the determination and trial of legal facts. For the translation of negative sentences in court cases, the translation of overt negation, including full negation, partial negation and shift of negation, needs to be done on the basis of retaining the negative form of the original text in most situations. For example, if full negative words are added with comparative form, they must be translated into Chinese negative sentences, while double negative words need to retain the emphasis of the original text or make the translation more euphemistic according to the needs of specific situations and translation purpose. The translation of implied negation should embody the negation form of the original text, so as to make the translation more fluent, coherent and logical.
