De-intermediation and Re-intermediation: Thoughts on Transformation of Commercial Enterprises from the Perspective of 3A Supply Chain

  • Based on the perspective of agility, adaptability and collaboration proposed in the 3A supply chain, this paper analyzes the current phenomenon of supply chain de-intermediation in commercial enterprises, and further discusses the possibility of re-intermediation. Both de-intermediation and re-intermediation can improve the agility of supply chain, which are the optimal choices of enterprises based on market conditions and their own capabilities. At the same time, they can affect the overall coordination of supply chain to varying degrees. In order to create a new 3A supply chain under the new market demand and technological development, traditional manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers need to not only consolidate and strengthen their own channel and resource advantages, but also integrate effectively based on their roles.
