Abstract
The different life trajectories of Dolly and Jane in the novel Family Romance by Anita Brookner, a contemporary British woman writer, epitomize the living conditions of British women in different periods of the 20th century. The book is a good interpretation of Brookner's view on women, that is, the relationship between the sexes is equal and harmonious, and there is no need to belong to a certain party in a gender sense.
