A Study on the Mistranslation of Jianghuai Dialect in A Dream of the Red Mansions

A dream of Red Mansions is rich in Jianghuai dialect, showing unique regional cultural characteristics. Based on a self-compiled "Chinese-English parallel corpus of dialect in A dream of Red Mansions", taking Yang Xianyi and Dai Naidie's translation as well as Hawkes and Minford's translation as examples, this paper uses typical cases to help analyze the reasons for the mistranslation of Jianghuai dialect in A dream of Red Mansions from two dimensions of language and culture.
