Abstract
Under the national policy of strengthening interdisciplinary education, the teaching and research oriented comprehensive colleges and universities with the characteristics of traditional metallurgy all offer the introduction to metallurgy course in the form of professional optional courses for non-metallurgical majors. However, the course covers a wide range of knowledge points and involves complex metallurgical equipment structure, and the foundation of non-metallurgical students is weak. Under the single teaching mode of emphasizing theory, the teaching quality is not ideal. The integration of virtual reality technology into the teaching of introduction to metallurgy course for non-metallurgical majors can make metallurgical process flow and equipment visualized, shorten the distance between theory and practice, so as to improve the teaching quality.
