A Research on the Speech Act of Suggestion of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wearing Masks

Based on the tweets about masks published by CDC official twitter account in the first half of 2020, this paper analyzes the speech act of suggestion about wearing masks. The research shows that the speech acts of suggestion are constantly changing, and the evolution process can be divided into five stages. These changes are related to the development of COVID-19 in the United States, mask production, and the cultural bias of masks.
