An Empirical Study of the Cooperative Learning Effects and Strategies from the Perspective of Innovative Abilities

Abstract
How to cultivate innovative talents to meet the demand of the new era is an important mission of higher education in China. This study implements a cooperative learning mode with 1,197 college students in their multiple English courses in order to verify the effectiveness of this mode in cultivating innovative foreign language talents. The research reveals that cooperative learning cannot only improve students’ study enthusiasm and participation, but also prominently enhance their innovative competencies of foreign language application, self-learning, team cooperation, critical thinking and problem tackling, assisting to train advanced innovative foreign language talents demanded by our national development strategy. Based on these findings, the paper adopts the approach of multi-factor regression analysis, and hereby presents optimized strategies for this mode to foster innovative talents better.
