Abstract
The foundational course on Water Treatment Equipment, as a cornerstone of specialized education, has found its traditional content structure and teaching methods inadequate to meet the requirements set by the goals of the New Engineering initiative. This study reports on curriculum reform where the course embraced updated educational philosophies, expanded its instructional content in line with contemporary developments, and implemented novel pedagogical strategies such as case-based teaching and heuristic instruction to improve the learning experience. Furthermore, the integration of ideological and political education throughout the entire teaching process invigorated student engagement, fostered innovative thinking among students, and ultimately enhanced the overall quality of the course.
