Ecological Production Relations: The Transformation Path of Ecological Value “Presence” in Marx’s Labor Theory of ValueTracing Back to Historical Materialism and Rooting in Value Composition

  • Whether Marx’s ecological thought is “present” in his labor theory of value has become a focus of debate in Western Marxist studies. However, Marx’s systematic ecological view lacks specific content and form in his theories of means of production ownership and labor value. In accordance with the essence of Marx’s ecological view, this study explores ecological production relations by integrating the value of ecological resources and their ownership into the means of production ownership of traditional production relations. It considers ecological environmental resources with value and the rights relationship between subjects as constituent elements of commodity value, seeking the transformation of elements “presence” in Marx’s natural view within his production relations and labor value theory. This lays a structural foundation for ecologicalization of production relations in the construction of ecological civilization.
