Exploration of Improving the Teaching Quality of Chemical Safety and Environmental Protection Course Assisted by Massive Open Online Courses

Abstract
Chemical safety and environmental protection is one of important professional basic courses of Chemical Engineering. Due to the complex knowledge, traditional classroom teaching of chemical safety and environmental protection cannot grasp the students’ learning situation and students’ learning enthusiasm is unmanageable, resulting in the teaching quality is not ideal. The teaching quality can be assisted by Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) summarized as follows: Firstly, students’ preview situation can be grasped in MOOC which is benefit for teacher’ preparing lessons before class; secondly, interactive links between teacher and students together with students’ subjectivity can be highlighted in the process of teaching; thirdly, class summaries in MOOC assist students to do a good job of course consolidation after class.
