Abstract
The construction of the new liberal arts requires college English teachers to build their competence in curricula of integrated ideology and politics in order to realize the integration of language teaching and values guidance. College English teachers’ competence in curricula of integrated ideology and politics is the integration of Chinese consciousness, discourse consciousness, technical consciousness, and dialogue consciousness. Based on the relevant theories of the teacher competence framework, this paper attempts to come up with the framework for college English teachers’ competence in curricula of integrated ideology and politics, which guides the implementing ideological-political education in college English course. Namely, teachers should focus on Chinese consciousness before class, carefully analyze ideological and political elements, refine discourse consciousness as the core in the teaching process, so as to integrate ideological and political elements, rely on technological empowerment after class, enhance the awareness of education, cultivate dialogue awareness in the evaluation process, and build intercultural communication. Only with framework can college English teachers acquire comprehensive ideological and political teaching competence.
