Research on the Optimization of Discipline Development in Local Universities: An Organizational Perspective

  • The attention in local university disciplinary construction should be shifted towards improving the level of disciplinary organization. Organizationalization in disciplinary construction offers inherent values such as reducing transaction costs and enhancing academic output, organizing knowledge production to improve disciplinary standards, and promoting in-depth exploration and accumulation of disciplinary knowledge. The organizationalization of local university disciplinary construction should adhere to the fundamental laws of disciplinary construction while considering the unique mission of local universities. The pathways to achieve this can include clarifying organizational missions, breaking down disciplinary barriers, incorporating diverse stakeholders, and increasing returns on achievements. Both the academic output level of disciplines and the developmental level of disciplinary organizations should be emphasized, and an evaluation approach that combines both quantitative and qualitative measures can be employed to assess and provide recommendations for the organizationalization of disciplinary construction.
