On the Mission and Responsibility of Youth in the Course of Chinese-style Modernization

  • Chinese-style modernization is a socialist modernization led by the Communist Party of China. It shares common features of modernization worldwide while bearing distinct Chinese characteristics, serving as a core path toward national rejuvenation. As a vital force for advancing modernization, youth in the new era are tasked with inheriting fine culture, advancing scientific and technological innovation, engaging in social development and guiding sound social trends. Meanwhile, they are confronted with practical challenges including fierce employment competition, conflicting values, unbalanced development and impacts brought by rapid technological advances. Based on the overall layout of Chinese-style modernization, this paper explores practical approaches for young people to fulfill their missions from five dimensions: competency improvement, innovative practice, social governance, cultural development and international exchanges. It intends to guide young people to strike a balance between personal growth and social accountability, shoulder historic responsibilities, and contribute to Chinese-style modernization and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with diligent youthful endeavors.
