Abstract:
China's MPA program is now shifting from the coexistence of degree education and diploma-degree education to the mere existence of diploma-degree education, which poses great challenges for the curriculum reform of MPA English course. Based on the ESP needs analysis theory, this paper compares the needs of the two types of MPA candidates in present English abilities, motivations, learning interest and career development, and reveals that those receiving diploma-degree education are not satisfied with improving their general English abilities but have a stronger desire to apply English in their practical work to promote career development. The paper aims to serve as a reference for the curriculum design of MPA English in the new period.
