Abstract: Specialized English course is one of the compulsory courses for energy and power engineering majors, whose main task is to cultivate students' reading ability of English literature and certain translation ability, so that students can use English as a tool to obtain the knowledge and information required by their specialty. At present, there are some problems in this course, such as undeveloped teaching methods, slow updating of teaching content and monotonous form of assessment. Therefore, new teaching methods such as flipping classroom and multimedia are adopted to improve the quality of teaching, combined with international cooperation in teaching and formative assessment system.
