Abstract: This thesis explores the reality of the development of mass sporting events in Anhui Province from 2016—2020 after the abolition of the administrative approval system for mass sporting events. We select the masses, heads of sports associations and school physical education teachers in eight cities in northern, central and southern Anhui Province as research subjects, and collect data through a sample survey and analyze it. We draw the conclusion that the governance system of mass sports events in Anhui province has been preliminarily constructed, the governance system of sports events has been continuously improved, and the number of mass sports events has been greatly increased. However, there is a big gap between the development of mass sports events in Anhui and that of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang and other starter areas. The governance mechanism of mass sports events is not yet perfect, and the quality and quantity development of mass sports events still needs to be strengthened. The governance of mass sports events should be promoted from co-construction at the starting point, co-governance at the process and sharing at the end, so as to guide the healthy and sustainable development of mass sports events in Anhui province.
