Abstract:
Based on the principle of translation aesthetics proposed by Mr. Xu Yuanchong known as the “Three Aesthetic Standards” and through an analysis of relevant examples of English translations of poetry on the theme of Zhaojun, this study reveals that English translations of Zhaojun-themed poetry from the perspective of the “Three Aesthetic Standards” emphasize aesthetic beauty in terms of imagery, phonetics, and form. Moreover, translators pay particular attention to portraying the aesthetic beauty of Zhaojun in their English renditions of the poetry. The “Three Aesthetic Standards” not only offer theoretical guidance and aesthetic standards for the English translation of classical Chinese poetry but also serve as guidance for promoting the dissemination of classical Chinese poetry and culture on the international stage.
