Abstract:
Acting as audience as well as storytellers, international students play an important part in telling Chinese stories. Based on “our” narrative position and by virtue of international students’ “other” mirror image, it is key to clarify the Chinese stories’ connotation and cultivate international students’ cross-cultural adaptability and global competence, thus making Chinese stories clear, acceptable, expressive and spreadable. Focusing on the three links in Chinese stories telling, namely “knowing China”, “being friendly to China” and “helping China”, this paper proposes three approaches from the perspectives of model innovation on Chinese conditions education, cultural exchange platforms construction and overseas resources integration to promote international students’ cognition, understanding and identification with China as well as the spreading influence of Chinese stories.
