Abstract:
White Teeth, the first novel of Zadie Smith, explores the history and roots of immigrant families by means of a lot of family stories, reveals some historical consciousness in multi-cultural novels, discloses the ethnic identity of immigrant families, and examines the colonial background of the colonized and British colonizers. The colonial and racial history is related to the immigrants and their families in the novel, which proves the influence of the family history and root on British immigrant and multi-ethnic families, so it can be seen that there is a considerable significance of history and reality in looking for the family identity and historical background through immigrant families and their descendants, and constructing personal and cultural identities in the study of the contemporary British literature of immigrants.
