Abstract: After the change of university affiliation, metallurgical industry colleges and universities have successively experienced waves of higher education reform and development. Based on the development environment and school orientation, each school chooses different development modes of “deeply engaging in an industry, strengthening the foundation and expanding new horizons, retaining characteristics, serving local places”. Entering a new era and new journey, in accordance with the national development strategy and industry development, each school takes disciplinary construction as the leader, and chooses the development path of “building world-class metallurgical disciplines and serving national strategic needs”, “building a solid metallurgical foundation, deriving tree-like subject groups”, “ building metallurgical characteristics, cultivating interdisciplinary disciplines” and “inheriting metallurgical culture and empowering the construction of new disciplines” respectively to promote the high-quality development of universities.
