Abstract: Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping attaches great importance to water management work, combined with the new journey and new tasks, clarified the water management ideas, planned river strategies, and considered water management work in the overall development strategy of the Party and the country. The water management ideas of Marx and Engels, the water management ideas in the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, the continuous development of the water management concepts and experiences of the Communist Party of China, and the inherent requirements of promoting people’s well-being and achieving high-quality development in the new journey provide the context for Xi Jinping’s important discourse on water management. Xi Jinping’s important discourse on water management inherits and develops Marxist ecological and natural views, providing action guidelines for water management work and high-quality development in the new era, and contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to global water management.
