Abstract:
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, more and more attention was paid to the issue of women's education. Tongcheng scholars who experienced the great changes of the times have become easier to face the social environment, and their own concepts have also changed. They recognize the need for women's education, both in terms of ideological origins and practical needs. They not only agree with women's education, believing that women's education is a general trend of social development, but also believe that women's education should be based on the content of moral education such as internal affairs and women's education. In addition, they favoured the inclusion of girls in the formal education system and, in addition to family education, advocated the opening of girls' schools, indicating their increased acceptance of women's multiple social identities.
