Abstract:
Eileen Chang is a representative of China's modern bilingual writers, once translated her work
Shame, Amah! into English, which reveals complex patterns of translator behavior that have rarely been systematically examined from a dynamic perspective in academic circles. The Translator Behavior Criticism theory takes the translator as the center of translation activities, putting forward the "Text-Behavior-Society" trinity evaluation system, so as to enhance the comprehensiveness, objectivity, and scientificity of translation criticism. In view of this, taking the self-translated version of
Shame, Amah! as a research case, this theoretical framework is used to explore the self-translation behavior chosen by the translator Eileen Chang under the interactive influence of multiple factors both inside and outside the translation.
