Abstract: The research on the ecological civilization education made by the foreign academic circles can be summarized into three periods of beginning, development and maturity from the environmental education to the sustainbale development education. It is demonstrated in the academic study in China that the ecological civilization education to citizens is formed and extended on the basis of the environmental education and the sustainbale development education and that education to college students is comparatively a part of the former, and the research on the latter is, in width and depth, still under development in which the approach tends to combine the investigation and study with the theoretical research.
