On Values of English Translation of Place Names in Protecting of Intangible Cultural Heritage——An Examplary Study of the English Translation of Keemun
-
Abstract: In China, English translation of place names is mostly based on the perspective of fixed requirements, but some specific translations put more emphasis on its values in the protection of non-legacy. The English translation for Qimen is "Keemun", which was influenced by Keemun black tea, and it was the first to have entered English world with high approval. The translation of intangible cultural heritage should stress the reader's acceptance and approval of the text, and the use of strategy is supposed to be flexible instead of being restricted to the existing rules.
