Abstract: Due to the lack of historical records, serious disagreement remains over Xiao Yuncong's native place and definition of Gushu Painting. Difficulties met in the research have caused negative effects in artistic communication of Xiao Yun and Gushu Painting. Academic version should be broadened to extract comprehensive cultural value of Xiao Yuncong and Gushu Painting with application of modern communication approaches.
