On the Action Research of Critical Reading

  • 摘要: 批判性阅读是培养批判性思维的重要途径。运用Richard Paul&Linda Elder思辨阅读模式,对研究生英语读写课程开展批判性阅读教学行动研究。行动分为3个阶段,即充分阅读课文结构主题及细节转述分析作者思维8个因素、评判课文9个维度。经过一个学期的行动实施,学生批判性阅读意识明显提升。本次行动研究也给如何通过阅读课文培养批判性思维能力提供了一个可操作性的模式。

     

    Abstract: Critical reading is an important way to develop critical thinking. This paper describes an action research of critical reading by applying Richard Paul & Linda Elder's critical reading model into teaching the course of English Reading and Writing for Graduates. There are 3 stages of the action, including understanding structures and themes of texts and paraphrasing details, analyzing the 8 elements of authors' thinking and evaluating texts from 9 aspects. After a research of one-term, students' awareness of reading critically has been apparently improved. This action research has offered a practical model on the way of cultivating critical thinking ability in reading texts.
