Abstract: Duichang-construction of folk art construction, which is a relatively unique construction method in Fujian and Taiwan, encourages craftsmen to show their skills by rewarding them with large sum of money and usually appears in public places or in the residences of businessmen and squire. Healthy competition of "Duichang-construction" can improve painters' and sculptors' skills, and leave a great number of amazing architectural monuments which sedulously strive for perfection, while vicious competition of "Duichang-construction" may cause the architectural decoration to be extremely uncoordinated so as to lose the beauty of unity.
