Abstract: During the Republican period, there were many kinds and styles of book illustrations, including decorative art style, abstract symbolic style, cartoon style and new woodcut art style. Illustrations of different styles are widely used in book binding, this is exactly the embodiment of artists' critical "taking" and integration in form and attitude; book decorators learn widely from others' strong points so as to take the value system as the core and relying on imagination and fictional ability, construct and transform freely on the aesthetic narrative level, reshape the language form of book illustrations, restore the "reality of art", create a new situation of book illustration art with "new shape" and "new color", and record the development process of social culture.
