On the Application of Politeness Principle in English Implicit Negation

摘要: 含蓄否定是英语否定的一种特殊表达方式，以肯定形式表达否定含义，通常是以含有否定意义的词汇、语法、修辞以及语用会话等方式表达，含蓄否定的表达是隐含的、间接的。语用学中的礼貌原则在英语含蓄否定中得到了充分的体现，尤其是得体、赞誉及同情等准则的应用，使得否定表达亦可以维护和谐、友好的交际氛围。

Abstract: Implicit negation is a special method of negation in English. When the affirmative form is used to express negative meaning, vocabulary, grammar, rhetoric and pragmatic expression which contain negative meaning are often adopted. The expression of implicit negation is implied and indirect. The politeness principle in pragmatics has been fully reflected in the implicit negation of English, especially the application of some standards such as appropriateness, praise and sympathy. In this way, the negative expression can also maintain a harmonious and friendly atmosphere.
