A Comparative Appreciation of Two English Versions of the First Chapter of A Dream of Red Mansion

  • 摘要: 对《红楼梦》“第一回”两种译本进行比较，杨宪益多用异化的方法，试图将原文作者的风格和意图充分表达出来；霍克斯以归化的翻译方法，用英文的艺术表达法和熟悉的方式来满足读者。

     

    Abstract: Comparing two versions of the first chapter of A dream of Red Mansion, it is found that YANG Xian-yi mainly used foreignizationto fully express the style and the intention of the original author; Hawkes used domestication to caterreaders with English artistic expression method and in a familiar way.
